|
| This is an adverstising trojan that installs secretly and starts generating pop-ups claiming that the user's computer is infected and recommends a rogue product to remove the infection. Therefore, it recommends questionable anti-spyware products such as SpywareStrike, SpyAxe, SpyTrooper, Malware Wipe, Adware Punisher, Spy iBlock and SpyGuard. The trojan is also capable of generating warning messages that look like system messages that direct users to install the fake anti-spyware products. The trojan is malicious and is capable of data-theft because it does transfer back and forth information from the infected computer. |

ADWARE
Adware is any software application in which advertising banners are displayed while the program is running. The authors of these applications include additional code that delivers the ads, which can be viewed through pop-up windows or through a bar that appears on a computer screen. The justification for adware is that it helps recover programming development cost and helps to hold down the cost for the user. Adware has been criticized for occasionally including code that tracks a user's personal information and passes it on to third parties, without the user's authorization or knowledge.
DOWNLOADER
A program designed to retrieve and install additional files, when run. Most will be configured to retrieve from a designated web or FTP site. Typical payload includes Spyware and Adware stub launchers.
